Yuki presented in IPSJ Interaction 2022 (2022.3.2)

Yuki Minamitani, a 4th year student of Hijikata Laboratory, presented their research at IPSJ Interaction 2022 held online from February 28 to March 2, 2022. Yuki developed “Reaction Maker,” a system that presents the audience’s emotions to the stage performer in real time during a non-audience performance of a play. The system analyzes the audience’s facial expressions using facial expression recognition technology and converts the analysis results into sounds that express emotions, such as laughter, so that the audience’s reactions (emotions) can be conveyed to the actors. When applied to an actual theatrical performance, we found that Reaction Maker has the potential to influence the actors’ motivations more than ordinary non-audience performances.
